October 1- 5, 2012
English 9
      On Monday, I will return and discuss their "second" grammar and literature test. The scores were MUCH BETTER.  I will also introduce the vocabulary terms in the literature selection "The Washwoman" on Monday as well. On Tuesday, we will review the eight parts of speech ,and we will proceed to identify the eight parts of speech using a guided practice. The following day we will discuss the guided practice and review the vocabulary terms. On Thursday, the class will identify the eight parts of speech in another guided practice. On Friday, they will complete a quiz in which they will identify the eight parts of speech. On Monday October 8, 2012,  each student will complete their vocabulary quiz pertaining to "The Washwoman".
 
English 9 Pre-AP
     On Monday, I will return their compare and contrast essay. We will discuss thesis statement, supporting details, and conclusion within the essay. Also, the remaining portion of the class will be able to recite their poetry outloud poem. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the class will view Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird.  On Thursday and Friday, I will itnroduce narrative essay. We will define the term ,and they will proceed to read "The Washwoman" and "New Directions".  On Friday, they will complete a quz on both selections.

       On Monday, the class will define and review thevocabulary terms in the early American literature text.We will also review and identify the individuals and the events that shaped early American literature. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will proceed to identify the multiple perspectives on the era using the text. On Thursday, we will identify the individuals and events that shaped Early America (Beginnings to 1800). On Friday, the students will complete a quiz pertaining to the vocatbulary terms covered on Monday. They will also complete an activity in which they will idntify the events and individuals of significance within Early America.
