December 3-7, 2012

English 9
     On Monday, each student will finish reading the selection The Most Dangerous Game ,and each student will complete the questions at the end of the selection.  On Tuesday, the class will discuss the questions ,and I will proceed to introduce active and passive voice.  I will aslo return each student's journal entry. If the journal entry consists of ten or more errors, the student will be informed to stay Wednesday after school for  a writitng tutorial.  On Wednesday, each student will redefine active and passive voice. The class will also complete a practive exercise identifying active and passive voice. On Thursday, I will introduce the next requred reading entitled Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea by Charles Seife. On Friday, each student will complete their active and passive voice quiz. We will also begin discussing the background information pertaining to the required reading.  

English 9 Pre-AP
      On Monday, the class will review the historical background information pertaining to The Odyssey. We will also review the literary devices used within The Odyssey. We will begin reading The Odyssey on Monday if time permits. We willcontinue reading The Odyssey Part I Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as well. On Friday, each student will complete a quiz pertaining to the historical background, usage of literary devices, and information covered in The Odyssesy part I.


English 10

      On Monday, the class will review the selections A journey through Texas and Boulders Taller Than the Great Seville. The class will answer the questions pertaining to the selection ,and the class will identify the culture represented within each selection. Once the discussion is complete, each student will proceed reading Of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford. On Tuesday, each student will complete a quiz pertaining to the two selections reviewed in class on Monday. We will proceed to discuss WIlliam Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation identifying the process of building a new settlement in the harsh wilderness, adhering to their religious faith, and the experience of the Massachusetts settlers known to us as Pilgrims. On Wednesday, each student will complete a daily practice exercise pertaining to the selection. Upon completion, the class will review parallel structure, use of apostrophes, commas etc. On Thursday, the class will complete and discuss a practice exercise identifying the proper usage of commas, apostrophes, parallel structure etc. On Friday, each student will complete a quiz identifying the grammar previously covered in class.
