November 26 - November 30, 2012

English 9
     On Monday, each student will write their holiday journal entry. On Tuesday, each student will share the journal entry with the class. Once the assignment is complete, each student will proceed to read the lit selection The Most Dangerous Game on page 214. The class will finish reading the lit selection on Wednesday. The class will discuss and identify the characters, plot, theme, setting, internal conflict, external conflict and resolution within the selection on Thursday. I will also introduce active and passive voice on Thursday. On Friday, each student will complete a quiz identifying the various elements within the selection The Most Dangerous Game. Upon completion of the quiz, each student will complete a daily practice exercise identifying active and passive voice.


English 9 Pre-AP
        On Monday, the class will review The Odyssey historical background, Greek mythology and customs, and Homer within the textbook. Each student will define epic, epithet, meter, epic simile, lofty style, and opening invocation to the Muse.  The class will also  pronounce and review the characters within The Odyssey. On Tuesday, the class  will review the previous terms ,and we will proceed to discuss the background story pertaining to the Trojan War.  On Wednesday,the class will also proceed to begin reading The Odyssey Part I . The class will review the previous events and characters within the selection. I will also introduce parallel structure. Each student will complete their quiz Friday identifying the material covered thus far within The Odyssey.



English 10
      On Monday, the class will review the daily grade assignment pertaining to the Iroquois Constitution selection. Once the discussion is complete, each student will proceed to read the selection "A Journey through Texas. On Tuesday, the class will review both selections within class. On Wednesday, each student will complete a daily grade assignment pertaining to both selections.
The class will also review active and passive voice.  On Thursday, the class will review the material pertaining to the selections. Each student will complete a quiz pertaining to both selections. Upon completion of the quiz, each student will identify active and passive voice.  

November 19 - 23, 2012

English 9
On Monday, the students will complete their vocabulary quiz from the selection American History. They will also retake their action and linking verb quiz.I was not satisfied with their performance overall ,so I will allow them to retake the quiz. I will record the highest grade. The purpose of the retake is not the score. It is about gaining the knowledge of the material. On Tuesday, I will return the quizzes ,and we will discuss the vocabulary quiz and the action and linking verb quiz. On Wednesday-Friday, we will be closed due to the Thanksgiving break. English 9 Pre -AP
On Monday, we will review and define the terms associated with the selection "The Gift of the Magi". We will define the terms and discuss the five multiple choice questions from "The Gift of the Magi" Pre-AP material. On Tuesday, we will review and identify the characters,conflict, setting, imagery,theme, and relevance of the title. On Wednesday-Friday, we will be closed due to the Thanksgiving break. I hope you all enjoy your holiday,and be safe.

On Monday, I will return the Iroquois Constitution questions and allow the students to finish the assignment. On Tuesday, we will discuss the selections and questions as I return them to the students. On Wednesday-Friday, we will be closed due to the Thanksgiving break.                        unitl tomorrow. I allowed them in class time to study.

Thursday --     Return and discuss vocab quizzes
                        Discuss "Iroquois Constitution" -- identifying the characters, and culture represented

November 5 - 9, 2012

English 9
     On Monday, there will be a concrete/abstract noun quiz. I will also return and discuss grammatical  errors within Halloween themed short stories. On Tuesday, I will return and discuss their concrete and abstract noun quiz. We will also proceed to discuss the literature selection American History. We will identify the setting, plot, internal conflict, external conflict , theme, etc. On Wednesday, they will answer questions ,as a daily grade assignment, identifying the elements discussed the previous day. On Thursday, I will introduce action and linking verbs. They will complete an exercise ,and we will discuss the exercise. On Friday, they will identify action and linking verbs as a daily grade. The quiz will take place the following Monday.

English 9 Pre-AP
     On Monday, the students will review and complete their quiz identifying pronoun, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. Once the quiz is complete, we will identify and discuss characterization and symbolism within the selection "The New England Nun". On Tuesday, we will introduce and discuss the background information pertaining to the Odyssey Part I. On Wednesday, we will review the Odyssey background information ,and I will introduce active and passive voice. On Thursday, we will review the Odyssey ,and they will identify active and passive voice. On Friday, each student will complete a quiz regarding the information covered on the Odyssey.

English 10
     On Monday, the students will complete their test pertaining to the four short selections covered in class. On Tuesday, we will discuss the test and review the eight parts of speech. On Wednesday, we will proceed to complete a daily practice exercise identifying the eight parts of speech. On Thursday, we will proceed to read the next literature selection ,and I will introduce the week's vocabulary terms.
On Friday, we will define and review the vocabulary terms. We will also discuss the literature selection.
