Multimedia Publications
The class will select a yearbook cover Tuesday. I will introduce them to Lifetouch's Web Ease program. They will create a user name and password. The Life touch rep will arrive Friday to give a more detailed explanation of the program. Each student is required and will be reminded to sell an ad before the semester ends. The NCTHS yearbook staff will also begin promoting pre sales this week. BUY YOUR NCTHS YEARBOOK NOW!
SOCIOLOGY
The class will proceed to review and discuss chapter one: sections two and three. After the discussion, the class will assemble into groups. They will construct a presentation regarding each section within chapter one. They will present the information to class Friday. Each presentation will consist of information via power point presentation along with a study guide for his/her classmates. The test will take place Friday Sep. 9,2011.
ENGLISH 9
We will begin with the infamous 8 parts of speech. I will begin with their ability to list the 8 parts of speech (before I move on to define each part of speech) ,and we will discuss the guided practice exercises in their workbooks. We will begin identifying nouns and pronouns. Once the discussion is complete,we will discuss the literature selection The Most Dangerous Game. Each student must be able to identify the character, plot, point of view, etc. within the selection. We will also proceed this week to list and define the various literary genres. Each student will complete a quiz identifying the elements in The Most Dangerous Game. They will also complete a quiz requring them to list the 8 parts of speech.
ENGLISH 9 PRE-AP
We will review chapters 1-8 of To Kill A Mockingbird. Each student will submit their homewrok assignment ,which was to answer questions that pertain to chapters 10-15. We will proceed to read and discuss chapters 16-18. After the discussion, we will proceed to define various literary terms such as anaphora, archetype, allegory, bildungsroman, denoument, hyperbole, etc. We will then begin to associate the term's relevance (if any) with To Kill A Mockingbird. The grammar activity will also begin with indentifying nouns and pronouns within their workbook. They will be complete a quiz this week defining the literary terms and identifying nouns and pronouns. The To Kill A Mockingbird test will take place September 8th for my A day students and September 9th for my B day students.

MULTI-MEDIA PUBLICATIONS
The class will proceed to compile the list of students that need to have his or her make up photo taken. MAKE UP PICTURE DAY is September 30, 2011 at 8:05. SENIOR FORMAL PHOTO DAY is also September 30, 2011 after students have taken their make up photos. We will also discuss the Lifetouch rep's visit on September 2, 2011. We will also begin selecting a new template for the NCTHS 2011-2012 newsletter.
ENGLISH 9 PRE AP
Students will receive their A Lesson Before Dying test. We will proceed to discuss the test. Upon completion, we will proceed to read and discuss chapters 1-6 of To Kill A Mockingbird. Each group will be assigned chapters to discuss and identify various elements (plot, characters, conflict, etc) within their presentation. Upon the next class meeting, we will read and discuss chapters 7-10. Each student will be assigned ch. 11-15 as homework reading in preparation for the quiz to follow. The class will also begin to identify and define the 8 parts of speech. Guided practice will be given and discussed before the quiz next week.
ENGLISH 9
Students will receive their A Lesson Before Dying test. We will proceed to discuss the test. Upon completion, we will proceed to read and discuss the literature selection Initiation (p.4). Each group will be assigned various elements to discuss and identify within the selection (plot, characters, conflict, genre, point of view, etc) within their presentation. Upon the next class meeting, we will review and discuss the selection prior to the quiz Thursday. Each student will be assigned grammar practice to complete as we begin to identify and define the 8 parts of speech. Guided practice will be given and discussed before the quiz next week.
SOCIOLOGY
The class will begin to read and discuss Chapter 1: An invitation to Sociology. We will define the terms and discuss key figures within the establishment of social sciences. We will introduce the term and discuss its relevance to culture, society. Each group will present a section of chapter one to the class this week. They will be responsible for creating a detailed presentation regarding the sections outlined in chapter one.

YEARBOOK
We will discuss and review the schedule for Fall Picture Day which is Friday August. 19, 2011. We discuss the location, time, order of the day, and distribution of information to the faculty. The NCTHS yearbook staff will begin pre sales of the 2011-2012 NCTHS yearbook and ad promotion. Our Lifetouch representative will arrive within the next two weeks to demonstrate and inform the students regarding constructing their pages using their online program. Page assignments have been distributed. We will concentrate on Fall Picture Day this week.

I. Define sociology
II. Explain why sociology is a social science
III. Explain and illustrate the sociological imagination as introduced by C. Wright Mills
IV. Recognize how sociology's focus differs from and is similiar to the focus of each of the other social sciences
