On Monday, the class will review and identify the short story elements within the selection The Most Dangerous Game. On Tuesday, the class will proceed to complete a daily grade activity reviewing and identifying the short story elements within the selection The Most Dangerous Game. Upon completion of the activity, we will proceed to review proper punctuation usage. We will begin with proper comma usage on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will reveiw the correct usage of colons. On Thurdsay, we will review the proper usage of semicolons. On Friday, each student will receive a study guide in preparation of next week's midterms.

On Monday, I will return The Odyssey quizzes ,and the class will proceed to review the information covered thus far within Part I of The Odyssey while discussing the quizzes. On Tuesday- Thursday, the class will continue reading The Odyssey in preparation for next week's midterm. On Friday, each student will receive a study guide detailing the content covered within the midterm.

We will also reveiw Anne Bradstreet's "To My Dear and Loving Husband" along with Edward Taylor's "Huswifery". On Tuesday, each student will begin reading Jonathan Edwards' "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God". On Wednesday, the class will review the selections ,and the class will proceed to complete a daily grade activity identifying the content within each poem and/or selection covered. On Thursday, I will introduce persuasive speeches in which the class will read various persuasive speeches within the text. On Friday, we will proceed to discuss the speeches ,and we will discuss the information covered on next week's midterm.

On Tuesday, the class will discuss the questions ,and I will proceed to introduce active and passive voice. I will aslo return each student's journal entry. If the journal entry consists of ten or more errors, the student will be informed to stay Wednesday after school for a writitng tutorial. On Wednesday, each student will redefine active and passive voice. The class will also complete a practive exercise identifying active and passive voice. On Thursday, I will introduce the next requred reading entitled Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea by Charles Seife. On Friday, each student will complete their active and passive voice quiz. We will also begin discussing the background information pertaining to the required reading.

We will proceed to discuss WIlliam Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation identifying the process of building a new settlement in the harsh wilderness, adhering to their religious faith, and the experience of the Massachusetts settlers known to us as Pilgrims. On Wednesday, each student will complete a daily practice exercise pertaining to the selection. The purpose of the retake is not the score. It is about gaining the knowledge of the material. On Tuesday, I will return the quizzes ,and we will discuss the vocabulary quiz and the action and linking verb quiz. On Wednesday-Friday, we will be closed due to the Thanksgiving break. On Wednesday their revised narrative essay is due. We will also complete a practice exercise reviewing the 8 parts of speech. On THursday, I will introduece the literature selection "The Scarlet Ibis" ,and the students will read "The Scarlet Ibis". On Friday, each student will complete their "The Scarlet Ibis " quiz ,and we will review the 8 parts of speech for Monday's quiz.

annotate teacher selected passages from one of the short stories. We will discuss the annotation assignment. On Thursday, we will review and discuss the elements of narrative fiction such as characterization, theme, tone, etc. On Friday, we will read "The New England Nun" ,and each student will write a narrative using the prompt "Describe a time when unhappiness occured because people did not understand each other".

On Tuesday, I will return their narrative essays and discuss grammatical errors within the essays. Each student will have an opportunity to revise their narrative essay. On Wednesday their revised narrative essay is due. We will also complete a practice exercise reviewing the 8 parts of speech. On THursday, I will introduece the literature selection "The Scarlet Ibis" ,and the students will read "The Scarlet Ibis". On Friday, each student will complete their "The Scarlet Ibis " quiz ,and we will review the 8 parts of speech for Monday's quiz.
