English 9
On Monday, each student will write their holiday journal entry. On Tuesday, each student will share the journal entry with the class. Once the assignment is complete, each student will proceed to read the lit selection The Most Dangerous Game on page 214. The class will finish reading the lit selection on Wednesday. The class will discuss and identify the characters, plot, theme, setting, internal conflict, external conflict and resolution within the selection on Thursday. I will also introduce active and passive voice on Thursday. On Friday, each student will complete a quiz identifying the various elements within the selection The Most Dangerous Game. Upon completion of the quiz, each student will complete a daily practice exercise identifying active and passive voice.
English 9 Pre-AP
On Monday, the class will review The Odyssey historical background, Greek mythology and customs, and Homer within the textbook. Each student will define epic, epithet, meter, epic simile, lofty style, and opening invocation to the Muse. The class will also pronounce and review the characters within The Odyssey. On Tuesday, the class will review the previous terms ,and we will proceed to discuss the background story pertaining to the Trojan War. On Wednesday,the class will also proceed to begin reading The Odyssey Part I . The class will review the previous events and characters within the selection. I will also introduce parallel structure. Each student will complete their quiz Friday identifying the material covered thus far within The Odyssey.
English 10
On Monday, the class will review the daily grade assignment pertaining to the Iroquois Constitution selection. Once the discussion is complete, each student will proceed to read the selection "A Journey through Texas. On Tuesday, the class will review both selections within class. On Wednesday, each student will complete a daily grade assignment pertaining to both selections.
The class will also review active and passive voice. On Thursday, the class will review the material pertaining to the selections. Each student will complete a quiz pertaining to both selections. Upon completion of the quiz, each student will identify active and passive voice.
