English 9
On Monday, I will return the eight parts of speech quizzes. We will discuss the quizzes. After the quiz, each student will read "The Scarlet Ibis". On Tuesday, I will introduce concrete and abstract nouns. We will proceed to discuss "The Scarlet Ibis" identifying the setting, plot, characters, conflict, and theme. On Wednesday, each student will complete a series of questions pertaining to "The Scarlet Ibis" ,and they will complete a practice exercise pertaining to concrete and abstract nouns. On Thursday, we will review both "The Scarlet Ibis" and concrete and abstract nouns. On Friday, there will be a quiz on concrete and abstract nouns.
English 9 Pre-AP
On Monday, we will define assertion, dialectical journal ,and we will discuss "The New England Nun". On Tuesday, we will identify the hero and ther hero's search for justice in three song lyrics. We will also identify the tone, detail and diction within "The New England" Nun. I will also introduce active and passive voice. On Wednesday, each student will submit their hero assignment ,and the class will complete a practice exercise pertaining to active and passive voice. On Thurdsay, we will review active and passive voice ,and view annotation examples. On Friday, each student will complete an active and passive voice quiz. They will also begin work on their dialectical journal.
English 10
On Monday, we will review for the PLAN test using PLAN resources. On Tuesday, sophomores will complete their PLAN test. On Wednesday, we will discuss the three selections and identify the cultures represented in each short selection. On Thursday, each student will complete a practice exercise regarding the selections. We will also discuss and review vocabulary within the selections. On Friday, each student will complete a quiz pertaining to the three short selections covered on Wednesday.
